Everyone has unique taste buds and enjoy their burgers in a multitude of different ways; which makes you all important judges!

We have outlined some judging criteria to help all of our burger submissions receive equal opportunity.

Recommended Criteria:

Burgers should be judged first and foremost, on FLAVOR.

Secondly, on PRESENTATION.

Third, on VALUE.

Tips for judging:

BE CONSISTENT- it is important to judge every burger you try with the same approach. If you are judging on flavor, are you judging the flavor of the patty alone, the whole bite together, or considering both? Whichever it is, be consistent across all burgers.

Keep in mind: if you remove toppings because of personal preference, you aren't tasting the burger as presented and may not get the flavor intended, be sure to take this into account when considering the flavor aspect of your vote.

Judging Criteria

- Select any participating establishment as your starting point.

- Order the contest burger and request a voting card from your server. Make sure your card is stamped with the establishments unique mark before leaving.

- 1 burger = 1 stamp, No exceptions. If you are sharing burgers, then you share your vote too.

- You must try at least half of the burgers submitted in the contest for your vote to count. If there are 24 burgers, you need to try 12 in order for your vote to be eligible.

- The more burgers you try, the more powerful your vote is. 12 burgers = 12 points, 13 burgers = 13 points, all 24 burgers = 24 points to your #1 burger.

- Don't forget to take your card with you each time you try a burger to collect your stamps. If you forget, don't worry! You can request a new card and send in your cards together at the end.

- All eligible votes (12 burgers or more) are entered into a drawing for gift cards to the participating establishments.

- Participants that tried ALL burgers are entered into a drawing for the GRAND prizes, Beef bundles sponsored by the Green County Beef Producers and other local beef producers!

*Contest ends July 31st and all voting cards are due to the Green County Beef Producers by August 7th.

All winners: Best Burgers and prize winners, will be announced at the 2026 Annual Great Steak Out on August 20th at the Green County Fair Grounds.
